Menu & Kitchen
The menu is more than a price list: in MahirRMS it is the bridge between what the customer orders, what the kitchen cooks, and what inventory consumes. All of it is maintained in one place — Kitchen in the main menu — as a set of tabs over the same data.

In this section
- Building the Menu — categories, items, variants (where prices live), deals, and the bulk tools: spreadsheet category editing, bulk price updates, SKU health checks.
- Departments & Kitchen Printing — how an order line finds its kitchen: food departments, per-branch printers, printer groups.
- Addons & Order Notes — extras with choosing rules (required/optional, min/max), and the canned item notes, cancel reasons and discard reasons.
- Food Timing & Availability — serve an item only in its windows, plus every other switch that gates availability.
- Kitchen Display (KDS) — the live board each station works from: Processing → Ready → Served.
Recipes: where the menu meets inventory
An item's recipe lists the ingredients (and quantities) one sold unit consumes — attached per variant, so the Large consumes more than the Small. Recipes power automatic consumption on day close, food-cost reporting, and stock reconciliation.
An item without a recipe still sells perfectly well — it just doesn't move inventory. Food businesses should treat missing recipes as menu debt and pay it down early. Recipes themselves are maintained from the Inventory side, where the ingredients live.
Tip: when changing a recipe, remember it applies from the next consumption run onward — past days are not recalculated. Change recipes at the start of a business day, not the middle.
