Departments & Kitchen Printing

When a cashier confirms an order, each line has to reach the station that cooks it. That routing is built from three pieces on the Kitchen screen.

Food departments#

A food department is a kitchen or counter — hot line, fry, bar, main counter. Every category belongs to one, so every item inherits one. Beyond routing, a department carries:

• Is food department — it appears on kitchen screens and reports as a cooking station.
• Is store — the department also acts as a stock location.
• Is auto consumable — its recipes are consumed automatically by the day's consumption run rather than by manual issuance.

An item can also name a second KOT print department — the slip prints at both stations, useful when one dish needs the grill and the fry line.

Branch printers#

For multi-branch businesses, the Branch Printers tab maps each department to a physical printer per branch — the same menu, but Branch 1's bar prints to its own counter printer while Branch 2's bar prints to another. The tab shows at a glance which departments are Linked and which have no printer yet, and the Auto Create Printers action on the department tab scaffolds one printer per department so you start from a working mapping.

Printer groups#

Some floors print by who is serving rather than where the food is cooked. If user-based printing is enabled for your business, the Printer Group tab defines named sets of department-to-printer mappings, and a user assigned to a group prints through it — the cashier on the first floor gets the first-floor printers regardless of department defaults.

Who cooks what#

Which kitchen screens a user sees is assigned under kitchen settings — a kitchen user is attached to one or more departments and the Kitchen Display then shows only those departments' lines.
